ITS Engineer, Various Locations-Southern States
Job Location: Any AECOM office in Southern States: Raleigh-NC, Charlotte, NC, Columbia-SC, Charleston-SC or Atlanta-GA
General Duties: The ITS Engineer work includes design and layout of CCTV cameras and DMS, communication design, vehicle detectors, system integration and testing, developing PS&E documents. Work may also include traffic capacity analysis, feasibility studies, signal design, signal timing, signal systems, traffic operations, safety analysis, construction management, traffic impact analyses and other related traffic engineering work.
Specific Requirements: ITS engineer with 8-10 years of experience, BS in Civil Engineering/Electrical Engineering, Professional Engineer in NC, SC or GA. MS Degree with transportation engineering emphasis and a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer Certification will be considered as an advantage. Must be familiar with Microstation and AutoCAD and traffic engineering software like Synchro, HCS, SIDRA. Familiarity with traffic modeling (Ex: VISSIM, VISSUM) and transportation planning software (Ex: TransCAD) would be an advantage. Experience in preparing proposals and marketing/business development is desired. Candidates should have worked on at least 3-4 ITS design projects from start to completion and thoroughly familiar with the signal design/ITS standards/guidelines of various SE States

Traffic Signal Systems Engineer in the City of Chattanooga
Duties:
Conducts system planning and design for the city-wide signal system and future Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for the City and regional ITS plan; oversees the contract management of the projects developed for the expansion and construction of the system; develops traffic signal simulation models, conducts the computer analysis to prepare traffic signal timing plans for intersections and coordinated signal systems, enters these in the database and signal controllers and manages the traffic operation studies to evaluate the timing plans in the field; oversees data collection and management of traffic studies necessary to conduct traffic capacity analysis for signalized intersections; refines and keeps up to date the intersection and coordinated signal systems timing plan database for all the traffic signals in the City using these studies on a routine basis; prepares/reviews design plans for signal systems and individual intersections; oversees the construction and inspection services for contracted and City-staff constructed signal improvements; may be required to drive a City vehicle in the performance of these duties; may perform other general traffic engineering services and manage other traffic engineering staff as may be required.Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering plus five (5) years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering with at least three (3) years of experience in traffic signal system design and operation.
- Experience working with highway capacity software and other traffic analysis software packages including Synchro and aaSIDRA is preferred.
- Master's degree in Traffic Engineering is preferred.
- PE (Professional Engineer's License) or the ability to obtain within six (6) months.
- A valid driver's license is required.

Manages financial aspects of contracts (billing, WIP, income/expenses, receivables, etc.) to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with clients. Traffic Engineering Manager position with the City of Cedar Rapids
This is a stable, long term position. Cedar Rapids is the second largest City in Iowa and we’re recovering from a major disaster. We have a ton of work to do and this position is integral to both our recovery and our long term vision.
What we are looking for: 5 years experience as a department manager or supervisor with four or more direct reports. The ability to: motivate; develop; supervise and evaluate staff members. Written and verbal communication skills and the ability to adapt their communication style to the audience, effectively conveying technical information to non-technical individuals. Comprehensive knowledge of: transportation planning principles and practices; roadway design standards; uniform traffic control devices; construction and maintenance practices and techniques. Iowa Professional Engineer license (out of state PE candidates are encouraged to apply and will be allowed time to obtain Iowa specific licensure).
Examples of essential work: Directs strategic planning, manages the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the department. Develops contracts, agreements, resolutions, ordinances and draft legislation for traffic related improvement projects and programs. Presents to City Council, neighborhood groups, and other public and private groups to communicate the benefits of the traffic engineering projects and programs as directed by the Public Works Director/City Engineer. Identifies potential grant programs and develops funding applications and agreements as appropriate to facilitate the implementation of transportation improvement projects and/or programs; Serves as City expert for traffic and transportation safety, design and construction programs.
