A Message from the Secretary-Treasurer

Georgia ITE Members and Friends,

It is my hope that you and your families are all staying safe and healthy during current events. Georgia ITE plans to keep providing our membership and communities with as much normalcy as possible during this unprecedented time.

First item of note for this announcement is our upcoming Thursday, April 30 webinar. The webinar will be hosted from 12:00pm to 1:00pm EDT and be held using a Microsoft Teams link. You must register and pay the $5 to recieve a PDH. This webinar is not exclusive to Georgia participants, so please feel free to let others know of the PDH opportunity.

Additionally, the deadline to apply for the 2020 Georgia ITE Mentor Program is quickly approaching. You must submit your application by April 30. This is a great program that only occurs every other year.

Please check out each of the sections below for an update of what has been going on, and what we are looking forward to with the section. As of this moment, we are still sorting through and planning when our May meeting will be and the topic.

Again, I hope you all are staying safe and healthy. Have a fantastic week!

Sincerely,
Meredith Emory, PE
2020 GAITE Secretary-Treasurer

Each protégé will be paired with a mentor who can provide career advice and professional guidance. The program will include six organized breakfast or lunch meetings held monthly at various locations. Additional information can be found in THIS FLYER.

If you are interested in participating in the program as a protégé please complete the application and return it to [email protected]. You may submit an application beginning April 1, and all applications are due by April 30.

The committee is also looking for mentors for the program. If you are interested in being a mentor to one of the great young members in Georgia ITE, please reach out to [email protected]

While the schedule is subject to change, we are optimistic that all of the meetings will still be completed between June 2020 and December 2020.

The 2020 Summer Seminar is still moving forward with planning as scheduled for now. The Georgia ITE board is paying close attention to current COVID19 updates and announcements from the CDC, WHO, and governement directives. We hope to have a final decision made shortly for our membership and transportation community.

The event will be held from July 19-22 at the King and Prince in St. Simmons Island. The hotel is allows for cancellations up to two weeks prior to the event. We hope to have registration available to you soon once a decision is made.

The theme this year is “Vision 2020” and presentations will focus on seeing clearly into the future and learning from the past. The technical committee has been working hard pulling presentations together. If you are interested in getting involved contact Robinson Nicol (Summer Seminar Chair) or Bill Ruhsam (Summer Seminar Technical Chair) to get involved.
