A Message from the Secretary-Treasurer

Georgia ITE Members and Friends,

I hope everyone enjoyed the first ever virtual Winter Workshop. Congratulations to the Winter Workshop Committee for putting on a great program. This year we had over 300 registered, which is a Winter Workshop record. The keynote address was delivered by Michael "Sully" Sullivan and we learned about GDOT’s RSA process as the group project. Despite the virtual format, we still had some great social time learning to make cocktails and playing Texas Hold'Em, trivia, and Psyc. Congratulations to all of the winners!

Looking forward there are some great events that you don’t want to miss. Registration is open for our March Monthly Meeting. Tune in to get an update on alternative intersections in Georgia and learn about a roundabout interchange project in District 5.

Registration is also open for SDITE’s Annual Meeting. This meeting will be held virtually. Please don’t wait to register as the early bird registration ends on March 24th.

There are a lot of ways to be involved in ITE. Both the Technical and Safety Committees are looking for new members. If you missed out on the fun in planning Winter Workshop you may want to consider joining the Summer Seminar Planning Committee. Additionally, if you know of anyone who may be interested in joining ITE, please see the update from the Marketing/Communications Committee below.

Please keep reading for more updates and details.

Marketing/Communication Update

How many of you know someone that would receive value being a member of ITE?  The Marketing/Communication committee would like to reach out to individuals who are not active participants within ITE/GAITE.  We are seeking assistance from our current membership identifying potential candidates who are roadway designers, transportation planners, and transit professionals to continually grow our membership.  For those on our mailing list outside of Georgia, this applies to you as well!  Regardless where you are, if you have received a benefit from our virtual programs, we would like to hear from you.

As we are still in a predominantly virtual world, it’s still a great time to invite friends to review our social media and our review past meetings on our YouTube channel that may be of interest.  There are many worthy professional organizations and we are not looking to subtract from the membership of other groups, several of which we regularly partner with.  We are looking to reach those who are struggling for networking opportunities (upcoming) and continuing education content after 2020.  We also have recent graduates, new Georgia residents, and those who have never been part of a professional organization.  Let’s reach out and make them feel welcome.

For more information, please contact [email protected] or [email protected].
