Topic: SCDOT Innovative Design-Build US 1 at I-20 Interchange Project
Speakers: James (Jae) H. Mattox, III - SCDOT Design-Build Program Manager; James K. O'Connor - Vice President at Johnson, Mirmiran, and Thompson (JMT)
SCDOT recently completed design-build procurement for the US 1 over I-20 Interchange project in Lexington, SC. In order to promote innovation, SCDOT did not prepare an Interchange Modification Report (IMR) during the preliminary engineering phase but required each proposer to complete this document during procurement. This process led to an increased level on innovation that played a significant role in the best-value award determination. Hear the perspective of the owner as well as the successful proposer.
GEORGIA SECTION NAMED THE WINNER OF THE 2020 ITE OUTSTANDING SECTION/CHAPTER AWARD!
Congratulations Georgia Section. For the Second Time in Three Years, GAITE has won the Outstanding Section/Chapter Award. This also makes three of the last four winners from the Southern District #SDITE! Check your "Spotlite" email sent this morning or see the link below!
This annual award recognizes a section or chapter that has outstanding activities, events, and opportunities for its members to engage in professional development, networking, and community outreach.
In 2019, the Georgia Section of ITE (GAITE) grew by 40 percent through OneITE, and provided more than 30 events for members to grow their industry knowledge, skills, and connections. The Section volunteered with more than 1,000 K-12 students to promote STEM and shape the future of the profession. Finally, the Section broke attendance records at Summer Seminar, their largest annual event.
The Georgia Section met and exceeded the criteria for the award and we are pleased to honor them as the 2020 Outstanding Section/Chapter recipient! Congratulations to all the members of GAITE!
The Georgia Section has been awarded this honor SEVEN times in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2009, 2018 and 2020. That's the most of any Section since the awards inception in 1992.
Due to the success of Summer Seminar social events, our activities committee has planned a Pictionary Night for their next activity to be held Thursday, August 27, 2020. Please Click Here to register and for more details on prizes and how to play.
Have more ideas for how we can keep our Georgia ITE relationships strong while having fun or have a great idea for how we can work to give back during this time? Please reach out to Nate Prathaftakis.
