A Message from the Secretary-Treasurer

GAITE Members and Friends,

Hopefully this rainy (or snowy for some of us) weather hasn't brought about any winter weather blues, but if you are looking for a little pep in your step, GAITE has you covered with some great events. There are three main upcoming events I'd like to highlight.

First up will be our Monthly Meeting at Mary Macs next week on Thursday, February 20. Come learn about new data-driven transportation opportunities, the hack process, and the big data frontier.

The SDITE Student Leadership Summit will round out February and kickstart March taking place Friday, February 28 to Sunday, March 1. The Summit will be held in our very own backyard at Georgia Tech. Let's represent Georgia well to both students and the Southern District by signing up and showing up.

Last, but certainly not least, is the 10th Annual Winter Workshop. You have until the end of this week, Friday, February 14, to join the hotel room block and also get the early registration rate. If you plan to attend, please be sure to get your room booked ASAP! This is a fantastic joint event with ASHE that is great to have a strong ITE presence also in attendance.

I'd also like to say thank you to those that volunteered their time this past Saturday for the Cobb County Math Counts Competition and also for the Introduce A Girl to Engineering event. The willingness of our Georgia ITE community to volunteer their time is always amazing to see in action.

Lastly, have you heard about the ConnectATL Summit on Mobility in Communities on Tuesday, March 31? This event is co-hosted by the Atlanta Regional Commission and Georgia DOT. This event focuses on finding collaborative solutions to address rapidly advancing transportation technology. Please visit the ConnectATL webpage to find out more and register.

Sincerely,
Meredith Emory, PE
2020 GAITE Secretary-Treasurer
