Technical Committee
The Data Analytics and Emerging Technologies Committee is always looking for interested participants who want to help shape the direction of our committee.
From the Data Analytics side (data analysis, data servers) anyone interested in getting more involved with RITIS or other analytics tools and how we can make it work for our clients and our consultancies feel free to reach out.
From the Emerging Technologies side (CAV, EV, AI, drones) the committee is putting together a presentation for Summer Seminar to talk about how our committee is here to assist agencies, consultants, and vendors in coming together to deliver new and exciting solutions.
For both technical areas we are working in getting another newsletter published, and we solicit articles on any of the above technical areas. We would like some submissions by the first week of May.
Those interested can reach out to [email protected] and/or [email protected].
Legislative Update
This Georgia General Assembly adjourned Sine Die at approximately 1:00am on April 3, officially ending the 2026 legislative session. These are the transportation and infrastructure measures now headed to the Governor's desk:
HB 297
Consolidates state transit agencies into GTEA and extends the MARTA sales tax, centralizing transit planning and funding in metro Atlanta while preserving a critical revenue stream to operations and expansion.
HB 328
Imposes an 8-year moratorium on failed Transit SPLOST referenda, raising the stakes of local transit votes and delaying future funding opportunities for nearly a decade if measures do not pass.
HB 1070
Increases and extends tax credits for short line railroad maintenance, strengthening freight rail infrastructure, supporting rural economies, and reducing long-term strain on highway systems.
HB 1277
Raises environmental review thresholds, expands design-build authority, and enables the sale of excess right-of-way, accelerating project delivery while increasing flexibility for GDOT to execute projects more efficiently.
