Mentorship Program

The ITE Georgia Mentorship Program's July session, Professional Image & The Art of Networking, led by Peggy Parks focused on how to build a positive professional image and grow your network through effective communication and etiquette. Participants learned practical tips for making strong first impressions, starting conversations, building meaningful connections, and navigating networking events with confidence. The session also highlighted the importance of active listening, professionalism, and respectful interactions in building lasting relationships. Attendees walked away with useful strategies to strengthen their personal brand, expand their professional network, and support their career growth.

The Technical Exchange Committee is currently in the process of planning the 2026 Technical Exchange with the South Carolina Section ITE (SCSITE) and North Carolina Section ITE (NCSITE).

Data Analytics & Emerging Technologies Committee
Members of the Data Analytics & Emerging Technologies committee led the Monday Session 2 of the Summer Seminar in July with two sessions and an AI Forum. We hope to build off this event by inviting anyone interested in participating in the committee in one of these ways:
- Do research on a topic of your choice related to data or new technology in transportation with the idea of preparing a white paper, technical brief and/or a presentation at a monthly meeting, the Technical Exchange (November 5) or Winter Workshop (usually March)
- Help plan/coordinate joint meeting with ITS Georgia in 2027 that will be a full length, AI forum with consultants, state and local governments, and vendors participating.
Anything we do in this committee should accomplish one of more of these goals: raising the awareness of particular technologies in our Section, providing opportunities to research and present on topics of interest, and/or working with others on the committee who share interests to build relationships and possible business opportunities/partnership.
Maybe you have a particular interest in AI, Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, Electric Vehicles and Charging Stations or Unmanned Aircraft Systems. We would love to have more members participate in this committee- to plan future events and presentations moving forward. If interested, please contact Matt Glasser ([email protected]) or Joe Gillis ([email protected]).
Legislative Update
USDOT Secretary Duffy's new letter (7/22/26) outlines what a short-term IIJA extension could mean: faster AV rollouts, Interstate expansion, Highway Trust Fund changes (impacts to Mass Transit Account), and fewer bike lane dollars. Climate, equity and EV programs? On the chopping block. Stay tuned.
