Recent ITE Events

On September 10th we had our monthly meeting at Kennesaw State and heard from KSU students on their research. YMC came back to campus to hold its Fall resume workshop with students.

Earlier this month, members of ITE attended the second annual Civil Pickleball Social and played in ITE's Annual Golf Tournament.

Looking ahead, we are excited to continue to partner with ITS for October monthly meeting, October 28th, and hold our final monthly meeting in November, November 12th, and hear about the takeaways from the technical tour from Netherlands earlier this year. Our December meeting, December 11th, is our Annual Meeting which will be held at Wild Heaven Brewery on the Westside BeltLine. We are also excited to partner with the South Carolina Section and North Carolina Section of ITE for our annual Technical Exchange which will be hosted in Greenville, SC on November 5th.

Technical Exchange

We are excited to announce the 2026 ITE Georgia Technical Exchange with the South Carolina Section ITE (SCSITE) and North Carolina Section ITE (NCSITE) will take place at the Greenville Convention Center in Greenville, SC on November 5th. This event will feature presentations lead by leading experts on a wide range of engaging topics. There will be an optional Greenville TMC tour at the end of the event!

Join ITE Georgia (GAITE) for a tailgate with the Georgia Tech (GT) Student Chapter before GT takes on Louisville on Saturday, November 7th hosted by YMC. The tailgate will take place in the grass area in front of the Sustainable Education Building (788 Atlantic Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30332) and food/soft drinks will be provided.

STEAM Camp

Registration for the 2026 STEAM Camp by Georgia Section ITE with partnership from GDOT and Grady is officially open!

The camp is on November 7th and 8th during National STEAM Day. The camp on Saturday, November 7th is for elementary school students and the camp on Sunday, November 8th is for middle and high school students. There are some camp scholarships available, please visit the website and apply online. Applications are due September 25th with notifications sent out on October 5th.

Engineering Outreach Committee

National STEM Day is November 8, 2026.

We are looking for volunteers to present on STEM careers at local K-12 schools the week of November 9-13. Members are encouraged to contact a local school directly to arrange an individual or group presentation. If you would like assistance connecting with a school, please contact Andrew Lewis, [email protected].

Student Engagement Council

We are looking for professionals to lead/co-lead a road safety audit (RSA) at Georgia Tech as part of Dr. Hunter's CEE 4600 class.

When: Friday, November 13th
- Two time slots available: 8 am and 12:30 pm each with approximately 24 students in attendance
Where: On or near Georgia Tech's campus

This is a great opportunity to meet/connect with students, get your company name out there and promote the transportation engineering profession!

Awards and Nominations

The Georgia Section distributes several awards each year to recognize the people and projects that have significantly impacted GAITE and the transportation industry in Georgia. Nominations are open year-round and winners will be announced at the Annual Meeting on December 11, 2026. Nominations for this year should be submitted by October 18, 2026: ITE Georgia - Awards

Award Categories:

Georgia Section Agency Achievement Award- For agencies distinguished by transportation improvements in the past 12 months.
John D. Edwards, Jr. Individual Achievement Award- For a member who has unselfishly advanced GAITE over the past year.

Transportation Professional of the Year- For individuals contributing substantially to the safe and efficient movement of people or goods in Georgia.

Karl Bevins Distinguished Service Award- For highly competent and professional engineers exemplifying Karl Bevins' legacy.
Georgia Section Award for Innovation in Transportation- For facilities/programs completed in the past two years that demonstrate innovation, good planning, design or operations.
Marsha Anderson Young Member of the Year Award- For young professionals (under 35) who significantly contribute to GAITE and the profession.
Georgia Section Idea Sharing Award- For members who shared noteworthy transportation innovations at a Section meeting.
Georgia Section Roundabout of the Year Award- Recognizing outstanding roundabout projects that improve safety and operations.
