Roundabout and Alternative Intersections
This Committee aims to provide resources on roundabouts and alternative intersections, such as research, guidance, and manuals at the state and national levels to promote networking among transportation professionals interested and/or involved in such alternatives to traditional intersections.

Call for Submissions – Roundabout of the Year Award
Submissions are now open for the 2026 Roundabout of the Year Award, recognizing outstanding projects that demonstrate excellence in design, safety, innovation, and community impact. Entries should include a brief project description (up to two pages) and visuals highlighting key features, challenges, and results. Projects will be evaluated on design quality, safety performance, multimodal accommodation, and overall presentation.

- The GDOT Roundabout Design Guide presents the principles and methods of achieving practical design and optimal roundabout operations through performance-based design. - NCHRP Report 672: Roundabouts: An Informational Guide – Second Edition This 2010 TRB report on planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of roundabouts remains useful in helping to explain the trade-offs associated with roundabouts. How Carmel, Indiana Became the "Roundabout Capital of the United States"
Jeremy Kashman, chief engineer and director of engineering for the City of Carmel, IN, USA, joins the ITE Talks Transportation podcast to talk about how his city became the "Roundabout Capital of the United States." With more than 140 existing roundabouts and more in the works, Kashman describes the process of installing these roundabouts and the benefits they provide, including decreased congestion, improved safety, and reduced emissions. Kashman also describes the public's reaction to the roundabouts, and provides insights for any jurisdictions considering installing the structures.
